Toss the Diamond Ring

Friday, August 27th, 2010

My husband of 10 years cheated on me and I hate feeling this way! He has hurt me enough all these years and I am not going to take any more of his insensitive and selfish ways. I just won’t condone to it anymore. I either threw away everything that reminded of him or burned it. Only two things left for me to toss and those are the diamond engagement ring and wedding ring.

I don’t want anything to do with him anymore. So I took my mom’s advice and I looked for a company to where I can sell wedding ring. I found a website on one of Florida’s most well known jeweler. They do appraise higher than most pawnshops and I was so relieved that they took in 3 times of ring’s value. Yippee! It’s shopping time for me.

I had to sell engagement ring, as well. Everything must go, I told myself. And the same thing happened, moolah everywhere!  I can’t believe how happy I am that I took in cash in exchange for the rings. Good thing my ex wasn’t cheap.

Cleaning our Room with Cisco Wireless

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

I am now living with my sister. We are actually halfway round the world away from home. She transferred because of employment, while I followed because of my studies. It is my sister who is paying for my school expenses now, so I thought that it will be easier if we will live together. We are now occupying a small studio type apartment. Last week, because we realized that if one will define our room in a phrase, it will be “all wires and a bed”, we decided to buy a Used Cisco wireless router. This will hopefully lessen the wires going around the room, to make it look more of a room than the back of thirteen computer units placed side by side.

Actually, it was my sister’s boss who suggested that we buy a refurbished Cisco Wireless router, because it is much cheaper, considering my sister’s financial capacity. And my sister’s boss was right. We did not spend so much, but we got exactly what we wanted. It was a wise decision, I may say; or a good investment. It is not every day that we get across Cisco products as cheap as what we’ve got. Call it luck or whatever, but we are just thankful.

Huge Amount of Data Handled by a Single Disk Array

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Our company is depending on the files and documents saved on the computer system. Of course, with the company as large as ours, simple data storage such as flash drives and hard disk drives are not enough for the amount of data that we are handling.

I was informed by one of my colleagues that the company is using IBM Disk Arrays. I am aware that every staffs has their own documents that must be securely stored because of the company’s privacy. As far as I am concerned, I thought that the tons of documents require large storage. But to my surprise, they are only using one IBM storage equipment.

I was not expecting that all the data of the company can be saved in just one simple black box. I was so amazed that I take a look at it closer and began touching it. How can this simple tool manage all the documents? Well, IBM is well known for their top of the line products and services. They don’t stop in inventing and manufacturing newer and better products every now and then.
